Exposition « Désir d'Antique » présentée par la Galerie 8+4 × Arteas Ancient Art, réunissant plus de 80 rares objets antiques et les œuvres de dix artistes contemporains.

Proposée par la ville de Fontainebleau, cette exposition présente objets et documents émanant de ses collections patrimoniales ainsi que des prêts de musées, galeries d'art et collectionneurs amateurs. Découvrez l'épopée du général Napoléon Bonaparte en Égypte et venez admirer uniformes, coiffes, instruments scientifiques, ouvrages rares dont la fameuse Description de l'Égypte, des objets égyptiens de l'époque antique mais aussi une momie de l'époque ptolémaïque. Galerie Arteas Ancient Art — Laura Bosc de Ganay Galerie 8+4 — Bernard Chauveau & Damien Sausset Stand C26 Un futur antérieur What we sensed intuitively, the great historians have confirmed: since the dawn of humanity there exists a migration of forms, a continuity of the artistic gesture which, beyond objects and styles, beyond even techniques, never ceases to question our relationship with the world. To better reaffirm this fertile dialogue between the productions of the past and the present, Galerie Arteas Ancient Art and Galerie 8+4 have conceived a joint presentation for this fair. Although divided into two adjoining spaces, the booth offers a unique opportunity to understand how pieces dating from Antiquity respond to the creations of today. Throughout history, artists have constantly drawn inspiration from Antiquity, particularly through pure and timeless forms. A fragment of Roman marble, a Greek vase or an Egyptian ritual object summon the same desire for absolute that one finds in the contemporary works of Claire Trotignon, Clément Bagot, Emma Lutz and Lionel Sabatté. At the heart of this double booth, this is not a confrontation, nor even a citation, but a dialogue that — beyond differing aesthetics — invokes the very essence of art: the origin of all things. At Arteas Ancient Art, this origin is found in the extreme simplicity of votive objects accompanying the deceased into the afterlife. It is equally present in the serene expressions of marble faces, whether Greek or Roman (1st–3rd century). There stands the evidence of an embodiment of the living in stone. The same concision of gesture is found in a few rare Mediterranean objects of indisputable provenance, sketching the contours of a cabinet of curiosities where the exceptional meets the unexpected. In dialogue with these incarnations of a time when gods and men feasted together, the works presented by Galerie 8+4 open onto irreducible singularities that blend the time of origins with the still-uncertain time of our future.

In the heart of Burgundy, from 24th to 27th May 2018, near Cluny, France. The Bourgogne Tribal Show is the first commercial and international tribal-art fair to be held in a countryside location. Set in idyllic rural surroundings, with a relaxed atmosphere that naturally lends itself to discovery, exchange and discussion, the Bourgogne Tribal Show offers a resolutely different experience. BESANCEUIL, NEAR CLUNY, FRANCE The Bourgogne Tribal Show is hosted at Besanceuil, just a few kilometres from Cluny, on the private estate of contemporary art dealer Bruno Mory. The farm buildings — dating from the 15th and late 18th centuries — have been magnificently restored to house exhibitions, while the contemporary sculpture park and views from the Clunisois hilltops provide a remarkable setting for visitors. EXHIBITION AT CLUNY ABBEY As every year, Cluny Abbey welcomes a tribal-art exhibition for which the dealers of the Bourgogne Tribal Show lend the majority of artworks. This year curated by Aurélien Gaborit — in charge of the African collections at the Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac — the exhibition explores the theme of the bestiary. The exhibition runs from 24th May to 24th June.
